"Are you three ready?" Dan said as he approached a large contraption caped by a blanket. His three nephews followed and stared at whatever their uncle had created.
"We're making a mistake coming here, aren't we?" Adam, the youngest, said to his older brothers. They shrugged in reply.
Dan grinned and grasped the blanket before removing it from his invention with one swift pull. “This, my dear nephews, is what will get us to the core of our planet.” he presented a vehicle made of plated metal. On the front of the vehicle was a large drill.
Jordan, the middle brother was staring at the vehicle with both a confused and frightened expression. “This thing is going to what?”
––––
“Dan! You’re insane!” Lewis, the oldest, had pulled his seatbelt as tight as he could as his uncle proceeded to drill a hole into the ground. Dan had coaxed them into coming along with him on his trip to the Earth’s core.
As the vehicle submerged into the ground, continuing to drill a large hole, Dan began to lecture.
“Right now, we’re going through the Earth’s crust, lads. The thinnest and outermost layer.” Dan announced as his nephews gripped his seat to keep themselves seated. “There are two types: oceanic, which involves the ocean, and continental, which we’re going through right now.” he explained. “This is also known as the lithosphere.”
“That’s great, Dan. Can we go back to the surface now?” Adam demanded. “This thing is making me claustrophobic.”
“We haven’t even scratched the surface!” Dan called back and proceeded to make his vehicle nosedive into the ground. His nephews clung to their seats as he continued drilling downwards. After a few good minutes of drilling, the interior of the vehicle was beginning to warm up.
“Did you at least build this thing with air-conditioning?” Jordan questioned, fanning himself with his hand.
Dan flipped a few switches and activated the AC. “Indeed I did. I don’t want us melting to death in 4,000º of thick liquid of elements of the mantle.” he replied. “We’re within the asthenosphere; the upper mantle. It’s going to be a while until we reach the core, boys, so sit tight.”
    His nephews groaned in reply.
Around ten minutes later, Dan made another announcement. “We’re now entering the mesosphere; also known as the lower mantle. It’s more rigid than the upper mantle.” he said. “Get ready for the core.”
Upon saying this, the vehicle hit liquid. The brothers jumped as the vehicle bobbed up and down.
“Welcome to the outer core. This is completely liquid.” Dan said.
“What comes after this?” Lewis asked.
“The inner core.” Dan replied as the vehicle clanked against a large gray ball.
Sky stared in wonder. “Is that it?” he asked in awe.
Dan nodded and grinned. “Made out of nickel and iron, completely solid due to all the pressure and heat upon it due to the other layers. It’s also apparently hotter than the surface of the sun.”
His nephews spent a few minutes staring in wonder before Dan spun the vehicle around and headed back up the hole he had created.
“Now, wasn’t that fun?” he asked the brothers as they reached the surface.
    Mumbled agreements were his answer.
“Now we know what makes up our planet.” Sky said. “All thanks to uncle Dan.”
My writing project for science about the earth's layers. I had to identify them by consistency and material, and of course I just had to use everyone's favorite gang in the story

At the moment, my science curriculum does not involve biology. It involves

Nervous System

Nervous System

and...

NERVOUS SYSTEM!!!

And I'm sick of it!

Btw, good job!
